A Staffordshire bull terrier with a winning personality and enthusiastic approach to life is ready to meet his special someone to live life in the fast lane with after a three year wait in kennels.
Five-year-old Winston is adored by his carers at Dogs Trust Darlington for his boundless zest for life and they have watched with pride as he has smashed his training targets. Now the Dogs Trust team’s priority is to find him his forever home.
Alex Hennessey, Manager at Darlington Rehoming Centre said: “It’s fair to say Winston has a rather large fan club here at the centre. He has been with us for three years so we know him well and you cannot help but smile when you are in his presence.
“Winston loves life and in particular playing with toys, although they do require to be robust or they won’t last long. Playtime is the best thing in the world to Winston. He is extremely happy using his nose with any form of enrichment activity from scent trails to find it games. Our training and behaviour team have put his enthusiastic nature to good use with his training and he has excelled. We want this to continue within his new home so are looking for dedicated and patient adopters.
“As he has been a long-term lodger with us, his transition from kennel life into a new home will be a gradual process. To anyone currently looking for a happy, energetic and playful dog bursting with potential, we hope they will consider Winston.”
Winston requires to be the only pet in an adult only home. A garden is a must as he has to be able to enjoy his favourite pastime of playing in his own private space. Winston does have a sensitive side and can be unsure of formal handling. He also has some medical needs which will be discussed with anyone interested in adoption. He enjoys companionship so is looking to have company in the home throughout the day.
