Dogs Trust Newbury is home to three fabulous pups, who are in the springtime of their lives and are looking to find homes where they can grow and thrive with their forever families.
Bertie, a Shar pei cross, Barney a Lurcher and Polly, a German Shepherd Cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier, are all young dogs with an abundance of love to give hoping to soon find a home to each call their own with families who can stand by them as they grow up.
Bertie
One-year-old Bertie arrived at the centre as a young puppy with his mum and siblings, after their owner was unable to look after them all. His mum and siblings have all found their forever homes now, so now it’s Bertie’s turn to find his new family.
He is an extremely loveable boy, who will shower you with affection. He’s very people orientated, so adores spending time with you and having company. Whether you are playing with toys or cuddled on the sofa, Bertie really does not mind, he is simply happy to be with you.
Bertie is a huge fan of the quiet life; he’d love a home in a quiet or rural location away from busy roads and heavily populated areas. He loves having peace and tranquillity, so would really benefit from his own garden where he can play and relax at his leisure. As he is still so young, Bertie still has a lot to learn and become comfortable with, he will need a dedicated family who are committed to helping him continue with training he has started at the rehoming centre. Bertie would benefit from being the only pet in the home and could live with children aged ten and over, who can respect his boundaries and understand his body language.
Barney Rubble
Barney Rubble (main picture above) would make for a great fit with a family who are fans of The Flintstones! Now aged one, he arrived at the centre in February aged just eight-months-old. He is a lively youngster, who is still very much a big puppy at heart. Beneath his bouncy puppy energy is a rather sensitive and affectionate boy, who loves spending time with and receiving a fuss from people. He also enjoys playing with toys and munching on tasty treats, which is a great aid for training.
Barney would love an active family who will be happy to provide the training, mental stimulation, and physical exercise to keep him entertained. He would benefit from having a garden, where he can burn off some energy and play with toys. He is currently working on some training at the centre, including improving his doggy social skills. He will need to work on keeping calm around other dogs, as he’s extremely animated when he sees a fellow pooch. He would be best suited to being the only pet in the home, so he can be the focus of his family and he can live with children aged twelve and over, who are comfortable around, big boisterous dogs.
Polly
Polly, aged two, arrived at the centre after a change in her owner’s circumstances. She loved people and looks for reassurance from them when she is feeling anxious, and because she has led a somewhat sheltered life there are still lots of new and unknown things to be discovered. Extremely clever and very loving, Polly enjoys playing with her toys, receiving a fuss and keeping her big brain busy with scent work and agility! Her intelligence and fun bubbly personality make her a joy to work with and the progress she has made whilst at the rehoming centre is just the tip of the iceberg of her full potential.
Polly would love a quiet home in a rural location, with access to quieter walking areas. A family with an interest and passion for activities such as agility or scent work would be ideal, as Polly likes to keep both mentally and physically active and is very good at both activities! Polly is happy to walk alongside with other calm dogs she is familiar with, but she is still working on her manners and would like her adopters to continue this. Polly could live with children aged sixteen and over, and her new family would ideally live within 45 minutes of the centre.
