The RSPCA is appealing for information after an emaciated terrier dog was found left in a crate at Maidstone.
The female Patterdale terrier was discovered by a member of the public who took her to a local vets on the afternoon of Sunday, August 18.
RSPCA Inspector Kirsten Ormerod, who is investigating, said: “The poor dog was in a poor body condition and suffering from mange. She was infested with fleas and the crate she was in was covered with her faeces.
“You could feel all her ribs and she had also suffered severe muscle wastage to back legs which left her so weak she struggled to stand.”
The terrier dog, who is around one to two years old, was not microchipped. But she was wearing a distinctive red collar (below), which the animal charity hopes will provide a clue in tracing her owner.
The terrier is under treatment for her skin condition and has been named Sprout by staff at the vets because she has adopted a favourite toShe has since been moved to an animal centre to continue her road to recovery they gave her.
