A new survey from Agria Pet Insurance reveals that the UK comes top for loving pets.
Despite the UK leaving the EU on 31st January, one thing is for sure regarding the UK’s place in Europe – we still love our pets the most.
The latest survey by Agria Pet Insurance across six European countries puts the UK at the top for loving our pets, with 96% head over heels for our cat or dog. This is compared with just 79% of the Danes who feel the love for their four-legged friends.
Dogs come out on top as being the most loved British pet, with 97% of owners saying that they love their canine companions, compared with the lower – but still European – beating 95% of British cat owners.
If uncertainty around Brexit makes owners feel a bit anxious, spending time with our pets is the solution.
The survey revealed that 97% of people are happiest when they’re with their pet, and the UK is miles ahead of our European friends for finding the most comfort in our cats and dogs when we’re sad.
Agria’s survey examined the feelings of pet owners from the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and France. Respondents from the UK came top across the board, with Sweden consistently coming in second place.
Simon Wheeler, Managing Director of Agria Pet Insurance, says: “Our latest research shows that the UK continues to stand firm in our long-held position of being the greatest animal lovers. Our pets mean everything to us, and during turbulent times, bring us more comfort than anything else.”
