The High Street Cafes and Restaurants where you can dine with your pooch

The UK High Street is becoming more dog-friendly, with several big-name cafes, coffee shops and restaurants now welcoming pets alongside their pet parents. Brands such as Starbucks, Costa, Café Nero, Gaucho and Bill’s all have opened their doors to customers’ canine companions.

Dog-friendly Vietnamese restaurant chain Pho has partnered with leading pet insurance provider ManyPets to help raise awareness of the growing number of dog-friendly dining options now available on the high street.

ManyPets has been on a mission to highlight the growing number of dog-friendly restaurants across the UK via its ManyPets Approved Guides. The portal highlights the top dog-friendly pubs, cafes and restaurants in cities throughout the UK with reviews of each venue.

Aimee Gardiner, Director of Pet Parent Engagement at ManyPets, says: “It’s amazing that we’re seeing more and more big brand chains open their doors to dogs. This is a clear sign of how the British public is becoming more open to having their four-legged friends by their side, rather than being left at home.”

Libby Andrews, Marketing Director of Pho, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with ManyPets to showcase our love of dogs. We’re keen to encourage our customers to bring along their pooches by offering them something unique and very tasty for the dog. We want to make it a delicious experience for both our customers and their lovely pets.”

The current list of high-street dog-friendly cafes, coffee shops and restaurants are below.

Pho

Noodle-fiends rejoice – Pho prides itself on being a dog-friendly restaurant chain! Your pooch is welcome inside and out at all restaurant locations across the UK.

Lounges

Lounges welcomes dogs at some locations, at the manager’s discretion. Where dogs are allowed to join you, they ask that your pooch is kept on a leash, with four paws firmly on the ground at all times (sorry, no cuddles at the table!) You can check out Lounges’ Canine Code of Conduct on their website.

Bill’s

Good news for fans of Bill’s laidback vibes – your pooch is welcome to relax at their restaurants too! Just make sure they’re well-behaved, as per Bill’s dog-friendly policy.

Boston Tea Party

Boston Tea Party. Of course, the UK’s ‘most ethical café’ is open to pooches! All Boston Tea Party locations are dog-friendly – just make sure your pooch stays off the furniture.

Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants

Gordon Ramsay restaurants are a bit of a mixed bag in terms of dog-friendliness, with dogs welcome at select restaurants only. At some locations, dogs are only allowed outdoors. To be safe, we recommend you check the Gordon Ramsay website for their dog-friendly restaurants before attending with your pooch.

Pizza Pilgrims

Unlike Pizza Express which will only allow well-behaved dogs to accompany their owners provided the restaurant has an outdoor seating area that you can access without passing through the indoor restaurant, Pizza Pilgrims is ‘welcome doggos’ of all shapes and sizes and they’re very welcome in all of our pizzerias (except Selfridges, Swingers & Westfield Shopping Centre. Their rules not Pizza Pilgrims…)

Gaucho

Gaucho is definitely on the dog-friendly end of the spectrum, but they do have a relatively extensive list of rules and restrictions you’ll need to follow if you choose to bring your pooch! For example, dogs aren’t permitted to attend restaurants after 6pm, and you can only bring one dog per person. If you’re looking to meet some fellow dog lovers, check out Gaucho’s dedicated Doggy days, held at various venues across the UK every month. See the Gaucho website for their full dog policy.

Mowgli

If you’re after tasty and authentic Indian cuisine that you can enjoy in the company of your four-legged friend, you can’t go past Mowgli. Every Mowgli location is dog-friendly – in fact, dogs are encouraged at this family-friendly restaurant chain! According to their Instagram feed, if your dog manages to win the hearts of the floor staff, it might even get a mention on the end-of-night report.
