Ten terrific Staffies searching for new homes at Dogs Trust Manchester

Dogs Trust Manchester is searching for forever homes for ten super Staffies, all of whom are young at heart OAPs – Older Age Pooches.

The team can’t remember looking after so many older Staffordshire Bull Terriers at any one time since the rehoming centre opened its doors in October 2014.

Many of the terrific ten have found themselves at the Denton-based rehoming centre after their owners either passed away or became ill and sadly were no longer able to take care of them.

Bridie is the oldest Staffie at the rehoming centre at 11-years old.

Now staff are hoping that age wont be a barrier to them all finding new homes sooner rather than later.

Deputy Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester, Carol Margieson, said: “Older dogs do sometimes stay with us a little longer than their younger canine companions, but it’s definitely true that age is just a number with these gorgeous boys and girls.

“They are full of fun and love heading out on interesting walks, but they also love a fuss and a cuddle. They can all live with children and some are happy to share their home with another dog – so what more could anyone ask?”

The oldest of the ten Staffies is 11-year old Bridie, who loves snuggling up to her two-legged friends after getting back from a nice walk. Affectionate Bailey, who is ten loves to be busy, he’s clever too; he recently passed his Dogs Trust Dog School training classes with flying colours.

Max loves being with people and is thoroughly enjoying his time staying with one of our volunteers foster carers who he accompanies to work. When the working day is over, he loves to play in the garden, before having a cuddle and a snooze.

Carol adds: “Staffies were recently voted the UK’s number one dog and we’re not surprised. They have all got so much to offer! They are loyal, loving, fun and intelligent. Despite their advancing years, all of the Staffies that we are looking after have a spring in their step and greet every day with a wagging tail.

“Each one will make a wonderful companion, so if anyone has a Staffie-shaped hole in their life, we’d encourage them to come and visit us.”
