Solihull College treks Snowdon to raise money for Birmingham Dogs Home

Birmingham Dogs Home is celebrating another successful corporate partnership with Solihull College & University Centre.

The College team recently took on the Snowdon for Sunrise challenge, raising an impressive £4,422.99 for the beloved charity. The team along with a team of their dedicated students run numerous fundraising events from charity car washes, to a craft fayre and open day.

As long-standing silver patrons of Birmingham Dogs Home, Solihull College & University Centre has supported the charity for many years. This time, staff members pushed themselves even further by trekking up Snowdon, starting at 1:30am in the dark, with the goal of reaching the summit by sunrise. Despite facing harsh conditions—including 30 mph gusts and temperatures as low as -5°C at the peak—the team persevered, with many smiling faces upon their return to the base, ready to enjoy their well-earned breakfast.

Claire Powell, Head of School Animal Welfare & Veterinary Nursing at the College, shared her thoughts on the challenge: “We are very aware of the fantastic work the Dogs Home team does to care for dogs in need, especially during these particularly challenging times. When the opportunity for the Snowdon at Sunrise challenge came along, we jumped at the chance to show our respect and raise vital funds for them. It was certainly a challenge with the weather conditions, but we feel we earned every penny of the donations!”

Birmingham Dogs Home expressed its gratitude for the continued support from Solihull College & University Centre. Sophie Evans, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Birmingham Dogs Home, said: “We are incredibly grateful to all our business supporters, especially everyone at Solihull College for their dedication and commitment. Their efforts help us provide happier tomorrows for the homeless dogs in our care. Thanks to their outstanding contribution, we are thrilled to upgrade them from Silver to Platinum Patrons.”

The funds raised will directly support the Birmingham Dogs Home in their mission to provide care, shelter, and new homes for dogs in need.
