According to MoneySuperMarket, 70% of Brits are willing to spend more money on their pets than on themselves, but it seems that pet gifting is evolving.
Insights from Fresha’s new trend report show that views for #petwellness on TikTok have grown from two million to 19 million in the last 12 months alone. Not only this, but demand for ‘dog reiki’ has soared 53%, with pet owners looking for alternative gift options for their pets this year.
Why are people looking for wellness gifts for pets?
Fresha’s insights found that 84% of pet owners now invest in grooming services for their dog. As well, 83% of pet owners also claim to be interested in treatments designed to improve their pet’s wellbeing (e.g. massage and anxiety therapy).
Yousef Alsadoud, Co-founder, Tiny Paws UE says: “Attitudes are shifting positively, with pets increasingly being seen as family members. We are seeing clients demand higher quality and better services for their pets. Basic paw and dog cleaning is no longer enough. Clients are now interested in medicated shampoos, eco-friendly products and holistic services. Whatever makes their pet feel better.”
What are the trending Christmas gifts for pets in 2024?
While in previous years pet owners have been inclined to buy their dog a new toy or tasty treats, 2024 is officially the year of ‘pet wellness’.
Fresha’s data highlights that demand for ethical pet treatments are soaring when it comes to search volumes this Christmas, with the most popular being ‘dog acupuncture’, which has seen a 246% increase in search over the last 12 months! This treatment can help with injury recovery, allergies and can even reduce pet anxiety.
