RSPCA staff arrive at work to find sad dog tied to gate

The RSPCA is appealing for information after animal centre staff arrived at work to find a dog tied up to the gate and abandoned.

Staff arrived at RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre, in Scudamore Road, Leicester early in the morning on Wednesday (4 March) to find the little grey Staffie tied to the metal gates with a. red lead.

A spokeswoman from Woodside said: “We’ve named her Misty. She was stood with her head pushed through the bars of the gate, her ears back with these big, brown puppy dog eyes. She just looked so sad and frightened; it was heart-breaking.

“She’s doing okay in kennels but feels really sorry for herself, which is understanding. She must be so confused and disorientated.”

RSPCA inspector Karl Marston is now looking into the abandonment and has appealed to the public in Leicestershire to help.

He said: “Poor Misty was skinny, and her ribs were clearly visible. She also had some cuts on her nose and an uncomfortable skin condition. She was microchipped so we’ve made some enquires with the contact details registered but understand she was rehomed a number of years ago.

We’re now hoping the public may be able to help with our investigation so anyone who recognises Misty should contact our appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
