RSPCA appeals for information as pet kitten comes home with concerning injuries

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a young pet cat arrived home with a series of concerning and unusual injuries to her ear, abdomen, tail and bottom.

Tabby cat Ivy went out as usual on the morning of Sunday 8 September – but she was out for longer than usual, arriving back at 6.40pm that evening to her home in Lynch Hill Lane in Slough.

Immediately her owners realised something was wrong as poor Ivy was limping badly and it was apparent that the tip of her right ear was missing and the fur on her side had been shaved.

RSPCA Chief Inspector, Rob Hartley, who is investigating, said: ā€œThis poor kitten arrived home at the weekend with a series of concerning injuries and the owner has no idea how this happened. Before this, she was a happy and healthy young cat with no injuries or health concerns.

ā€œWe are now appealing for information to see if anyone in the area saw or heard anything during the afternoon or early evening of 8 September in the Lynch Hill Lane area of Slough.

ā€œThe vet who examined Ivy has confirmed that she has a clean, straight cut to the right ear and the tip of the ear is missing. She also has a patch of shaved fur on her side as well as under her tail. Her abdomen, tail and anus also appear bruised and causing her a lot of pain. These are concerning and unusual injuries so we are very keen to find out what has happened to poor Ivy and hope the public can help our enquiries.ā€

If anyone has any information, they can contact the police on 101 or call the RSPCAā€™s inspectorate appeal line onĀ 0300 123 8018.Ā Please note all informationĀ provided will remain entirely confidential.

Ivyā€™s owner Muhammed Husayn explained that the young cat has been unable to move her tail since the incident happened. Thankfully, she is on pain relief and getting plenty of rest and positively, in the last couple of days has been acting more like herself.

He added: ā€œWe want to raise awareness in the local community that this has happened. It has come as such a shock to us as itā€™s not something we expected to happen especially around here so we’re keen to warn other cat owners in the area to be wary.ā€

Rob added: ā€œOur thoughts go out to Ivyā€™s owners who must be incredibly worried and concerned for their much-loved pet cat and we hope she gets better soon.ā€
