RSPCA appeals after dog is punched and kicked outside North London cafe

The RSPCA is appealing for information after claims a dog was kicked and punched by her owner outside a cafe in Tottenham.

A customer at the cafe on Lordship Lane reported seeing a sustained attack on the canine, who appeared to have historic injuries, including a swollen eye and mouth.

The incident, which took place around 12.30pm on Tuesday, June 18, wasn’t captured by CCTV cameras.

Now the RSPCA has released an image of a man who was in the area at the time – who they believe may be able to help provide information to assist these enquiries.

Inspector Shahnaz Ahmad, who is investigating, said: “I’m appealing to people in the local area for information  about this alleged incident, including this man who may have been in the area at the time. Someone who was in the cafe reports seeing a man punch and kick the dog outside and alleges the beating lasted several minutes.

“We are keen to find the dog so we can check that they are okay as part of our enquiries. Unfortunately, we’ve had a few different complaints about dogs being allegedly beaten in this area – by different people.

“If anyone has any information about this incident or similar acts of alleged cruelty in this area of Tottenham we would urge them to ring the RSPCA appeals line number on 0300 123 8018.”

The female dog has been described as being of a medium size and tan/gold in colour and she has floppy ears. She appeared frightened of her assailant who is said to frequent bookmakers in the area .

It is the RSPCA’s 200th birthday this month and the animal welfare charity wants to inspire one million people to join their movement to improve animals’ lives.
