An ace rescue dog who is a smash hit with all staff at Dogs Trust Cumbria is hoping that by showing off his enviable ball skills, he will soon find his forever home.
One-year-old Lurcher Ronnie always has his eye on the ball, especially if it’s a tennis ball or of the squeaky variety. His impressive moves have not gone unnoticed by his Dogs Trust carers, who say he keenly chases every ball and has the energy of any elite athlete when it comes to playing.
Julie O’Neill, Media Co-ordinator at Dogs Trust Cumbria said: “Ronnie is a super lad who is friendly and loving and is never happier than when playing with a ball. He has great recall so he will bring the ball back to you for further fun.
“As he is still a youngster, he can pull on the lead especially when he is excited, so he would benefit from further training and socialisation. Ronnie is going to be the best doubles partner for an active owner who enjoys walks in the countryside followed by snuggles on the sofa.
“We are hoping it will soon be Game, Set and Match for lovely Ronnie when he bounds off to his forever home.”
Ronnie may be able to live with another dog but cannot live with small animals. He is housetrained, travels well in the car and can be left home alone for short periods once settled.
Ronnie is just one of the many sighthounds that Dogs Trust Cumbria have cared for in 2024. The team in Cumbria have found homes for 33 sighthounds this year, including Lurchers, Greyhounds and Whippets. They are currently caring for five sighthounds, three of which are reserved.
Dogs Trust Cumbria is desperately seeking new foster carers to care for dogs like Ronnie on a temporary basis within their home until they find their forever home. To find out more about fostering contact [email protected]
