Recognition and festive cheer round out a successful year for Petpals

As 2024 draws to a close, Petpals, the UK’s longest-established pet care franchise, is celebrating a year of growth, innovation and community impact.

From spreading festive joy in Sefton to scooping prestigious awards in Milton Keynes, the Petpals network has shown the strength of its franchise model and the dedication of its franchisees.

Suzie Mossman, who took over Petpals Sefton earlier this year, has been making waves in her local community with a heartwarming Christmas initiative. Partnering with Freshfields Animal Rescue, Suzie has invited her clients to donate gifts to support the charity’s vital work. Her efforts have been met with an outpouring of generosity from the community.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness of our clients,” said Suzie. “Every small gift, whether it’s a packet of treats or a bottle of cleaning supplies, goes a long way in supporting the incredible work Freshfields does. It’s heartwarming to see our community come together to help animals in need.”

Since taking over the business earlier this year, Suzie has made it a priority to give back to the pet-loving community that has welcomed and supported her business. “I’ve absolutely loved getting to know the wonderful pets, clients and local businesses in the area,” explained Suzie. “It’s been an incredible experience, and this is just one of the many ways we can give back to the community that has been so supportive. The kindness we’ve received has inspired me to do everything I can to help those in need, especially during the holiday season.”

In addition to supporting Freshfields, Suzie and her team are spreading joy closer to home by creating Christmas goody bags for the pets they care for. With over 150 animals on their books, the task is no small feat, but it is a testament to the team’s dedication.

“Christmas is all about giving, and we wanted to show our appreciation to the wonderful pets we care for all year round,” said Suzie. “It’s our way of saying thank you and spreading a little holiday magic to the animals and families we love.”

Meanwhile, in Milton Keynes, Petpals franchisees Nilay and Priyanka Sanghrajka are celebrating a remarkable double win at the 2024 SME News UK Enterprise Awards – where they were named the Most Trusted Pet Care Provider and the Most Innovative Pet Care Provider. These accolades highlight the couple’s commitment to excellence and their ability to make a significant impact in their community within just 18 months of launching their business.

“We’re absolutely over the moon,” said Nilay. “It’s such a pleasant surprise. As a small business, receiving recognition this early in our journey is incredibly validating and motivating. It pushes us to keep innovating and delivering the best care for our clients. Winning these awards has given us even more drive to continue growing and maintaining the trust our clients have placed in us.”

The couple attribute their success to their personal touch and dedication. “We’ve always believed in treating our clients’ pets like our own,” explained Priyanka. “We have three cats – Mario, Mia and Misty – and the love and care we give them is exactly what we aim to offer to all the furry friends in our care. This recognition is truly a reflection of the feedback we receive from our clients, who appreciate the level of attention and affection we provide.”

Looking ahead, the couple are excited for what the future holds. “We have big plans to expand our services and reach even more pet owners in the area. We can’t wait to take Petpals Milton Keynes to the next level!” added Priyanka.

Reflecting on the network’s achievements, Kevin Thackrah, Director of Petpals, expressed his pride in the franchisees’ successes. “Suzie’s Christmas initiative and Nilay and Priyanka’s award wins exemplify the spirit of Petpals franchisees. Their dedication to their communities and commitment to excellence are what make our network so special. These stories highlight how franchisees can make a real difference while building thriving businesses,” said Kevin.

As Petpals continues to expand across the UK, Kevin encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to consider joining the network in 2025. “Our franchisees benefit from a proven business model, ongoing support and the opportunity to be part of a brand that prioritises community and care,” he added.
