A rabbit was abandoned alone in a cardboard box in the middle of a field in Sheffield.
RSPCA animal rescuer Katie Hetherington was called out on Tuesday (27 October) to a field off Cotleigh Way.
Katie said: “This little bunny was found in a cardboard box lined with hay which had been discarded in a field without any second thought. The rabbit is a gorgeous, siler-coloured Rex type and appears to be quite young. She isn’t microchipped.
“We made some local enquiries and are now appealing for information from anyone who may know where she came from or who is responsible for abandoning her so irresponsibly. Anyone who can help our investigation should call us on 0300 123 8018 and leave me a message.”
The rabbit is now being cared for by staff at a nearby RSPCA centre. When she’s ready, she’ll be made available for rehoming.
Katie added: “We understand that things are really difficult for people at the moment and some pet owners may be struggling but we’d urge them to please ask for help and not to abandon their pets.”
