North Wales pet food company starts to sell products direct after a lockdown pet boom sees increase in pet food demand.
With a huge rise in dog and cat ownership since the coronavirus outbreak last year and shortages of some pet food, North Wales based Pero Pet Foods is today launching a new website allowing customers to buy its high quality pet food directly from its online shop.
According to the Pet Food Manufactures’ Association, a total of 3.2 million households in the UK have acquired a pet since the start of the pandemic, which means the country now has 17 million pet-owning homes resulting in some UK supermarkets seeing shortages in some pet foods.
Founded in 1985 by local farmer Dewi Parry, the Conwy based company is now taking its latest step in its successful journey, he said, “We created Pero in the 1980s when our own dogs were very reluctant to eat any of the foods that were available. Standards for pet food weren’t what they are today, and we decided we wanted to help make a change.”
