Paul O’ Grady and his new puppy, Nancy have sent staff at Battersea an encouraging video to help boost morale during these ‘tough times’.
The video calls upon the public to donate what they can to help the much-loved animal charity’s homeless dogs and cats.
During the heart-warming video, the Battersea ambassador sends well wishes to all of the charity’s staff and animals before saying: “you’re doing a really great job there, because these are tough times”.
Since lockdown began, Battersea has had to close all three of its centres to public visitors. Staff are still going in each day to ensure the dogs and cats in the charity’s care receive as much love and attention as they normally would.
But Battersea has had to postpone many challenges and special events over the coming months and faces a loss of income.
As Paul points out, Battersea received no government funding and relies solely on donations to continue to help dogs and cats inside their gates and beyond.
Because of this, Paul and Nancy have urged the public to donate “a couple of spare bob” so that Battersea can continue to be here for every dog and cat.
Paul had already started filming the ninth series of ‘Paul O’Grady, For the Love of Dogs’, before having to pause due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, during this video, the animal lover promises to return to Battersea when things return to normal.
