Over £10,000 raised for dogs without homes

Over the Bank Holiday weekend, dogs and their owners across Europe helped to raise over £10k for dogs without homes.

Thousands of paws padded their way across the countryside and beaches as part of the Agria Dog Walk to help raise money for dogs without homes.

From Hermes to Helskink, Oslo to Copenhagen, twelve locations across Sweden and even more in the UK, thousands of dogs walked a variety of stunning routes to support their local rescue; helping more dogs find forever homes.

In the UK, rehoming organisations from Edinburgh to Devon took park. Every dog that walked generated a donation from Agria, and including other fundraising activities at the events, throughout the UK, an incredible £10,846 was raised for the rescues involved.

As well as raising money, the Agria Dog Walk also highlighted the powerful and positive links between dogs and our mental health, with many adopters from rescues across the country sharing their stories of how their adopted dog has transformed their life.

From helping with loneliness, bereavement and depression, to becoming the centre of a family and boosting everyone’s mood, to being the reason to get out and socialise; time and time again, dogs – and other pets too – have shown that they can change everything.

The aim of the Agria Dog Walk was to give something back, and help pets waiting for their forever homes by supporting the wonderful rescues that care for them.

Howard Bridges, CEO at Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, said: “Taking part in the Agria Dog Walk has been fantastic. To see so many local dogs and owners coming to support the Home was very special, and so greatly appreciated – and we had such a great day! Thank you to the team at Agria Pet Insurance; this really will make a difference to the animals in our care.”

Simon Wheeler, Managing Director of Agria Pet Insurance, says, “Through our partnerships with many of the UK’s rescue organisations, we see how crucial it is for them to raise money to continue the incredible work they do turning around the lives of so many animals without homes. We’re so pleased that the Agria Dog Walk has been such a success and generated these much-needed funds. Thank you to everyone who made the event possible – we had a wonderful day!”
