On Monday 6 March third party sales of puppies and kittens will be illegal in England thanks to national campaign, Lucy’s Law
.
The new law is a result of tireless campaigning from PupAid, spearheaded by Marc Abraham who stopped at nothing to make this a reality.
In line with the new law coming into effect, ‘Lucy’s Law – the story of a little dog who changed the world’ by Marc Abraham will be released on 5th March.
The book is a powerful and incredibly moving story documenting the journey of Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was rescued on the brink of death from a Welsh puppy farm with a curved spine from being kept in a cramped cage.
Lucy was rescued in 2013 and as in a terrible way – her spine was fused, she was covered in scalds and burns, blind in one eye, had crippling arthritis, separation anxiety and was badly underweight.
Her life was turned around when she was chosen for adoption and rehabilitated by dog-lover Lisa Garner, Together with Marc – a vet determined to end the suffering of innocent animals – a journey began that would eventually change the world.
Commenting on the book, Marc said: “Writing the Lucy’s Law book about our 10 year campaign to help end puppy farm cruelty brought back all sorts of memories, both good and bad. With so many obstructions shoved in our path from all sorts of unlikely sources, and very limited resources to overcome them, let alone zero knowledge about politics or law; the Lucy’s Law story is about a small team of grassroots campaigners working tirelessly in their spare time to do what was ‘right’ for animal welfare, with creativity, belief, and of course an indefatigable spirit of never giving up.
“I really hope brave little Lucy and her story inspires others to fight for the most vulnerable, those with no voice, and shows that the tools are out there for anyone to make positive change happen in the world, be it raising awareness, changing the law, or both.”
The book is available to pre-order from Mirror Books (RRP £8.99) and Marc will be making donations from book sales to various organisations that rescue and rehabilitate ex-puppy farm dogs.
