Adventurous moggy, whose care is being supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, needs a home away from other pets
Tabby and white puss Lucky is hoping he will live up to his name and find a new home in time for the festive season.
Currently in the care of Cats Protection’s newly opened Glasgow South Homing Centre, on Haggs Road in Glasgow, this is Lucky’s second stay with the charity. The team hopes it will be his last before finding a forever home.
Lucky initially came into care in May 2022 when his owner was unable to keep him with their other cat. He quickly became a favourite with the team looking after him, so they were delighted when he was adopted the following August.
Sadly, although his new owner didn’t have any other pets, Lucky didn’t get on with the other animals in the area and was brought back into care in October this year.
Lucky is a very adventurous cat, requiring a lot of enrichment and attention to keep him from getting frustrated with centre life. The team is now searching for a very rural home for him without other pets, where he can spend most of his time outdoors but have the option to come inside for some love and affection.
Centre Manager, Kim Fleming, explained: “Due to Lucky’s high energy levels, the team here is providing him with plenty of stimulation to keep him entertained. He is very intelligent and loves playing with fishing rod and water toys.
“He’s also very adept at working out puzzle feeders, so we’re constantly finding new ways to keep him busy. He has access to cat trees, so he can climb and explore, and lives between two different cat pens with different items in them, so that he doesn’t get bored too quickly.
“Lucky really is a lovely boy and enjoys a fuss now and then, in between his bursts of energy. We’d love to find him his perfect home soon so he can be settled in in time for the festive season and start the new year with his forever family.
“We’re incredibly grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Funds received thanks to their support help us care for hundreds of cats like Lucky. We really can’t thank them enough.”
To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £1.2 billion to support good causes across Britain.
Laura Chow, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “I’m so pleased money raised by our players is helping Cats Protection to care for cats like Lucky, while they wait for permanent homes. I hope Lucky is able to find a new home just in time for Christmas.”
