Celebrating International Dog Day (26th August), Leaps & Bounds has partnered with the charity Dogs Trust, to donate £1 for every promotional bottle sold after consumer research revealed that over a quarter of dog owners prefer to drink wine at home while in the company of their dogs.
Exclusively available in Sainsbury’s from 26th August, the Australian wine, inspired by heroic dogs of the world, is on a mission to give back to its (canine) community, partnering with the UK’s largest dog welfare charity which provides life-changing care and forever homes through rehoming.
The research conducted exclusively with dog owners nationwide also unveiled that 30% of those asked feel more relaxed drinking when in the company of their pup. Furthermore, nearly 8 in 10 (79%) consciously try to involve their dogs in their social lives, with half (50%) admitting to having more fun socially since getting a dog.
This initiative starts a year-long partnership with Dogs Trust to continually raise awareness of their inspiring work on behalf of all their dogs, from rehoming to rehabilitation. The exclusive promotion with Sainsbury’s is the first towards a long-standing partnership which starts with an initial donation of £35,000.
Since its launch, Leaps & Bounds has been making the wine experience fun and telling exciting tales on the bottle. Leaps & Bounds Sauvignon Blanc (2021) is the pack’s newest member. A wine inspired by the first dog to travel across America by car, Bud. It expels tropical characteristics of melon, guava and kiwi fruit with citrus and is perfectly paired with fresh seafood or chicken.
Fancy a red? Leaps & Bounds Shiraz (2020) is laden with bright, fresh fruit flavours and a soft finish. This medium-bodied delight highlights a masterless dog named Bob, who travelled thousands of miles as a faithful companion to many train drivers and engineers across southern Australia in the latter part of the 19th century. The wine pairs with Italian dishes, barbequed vegetables, and hard cheeses.
Victoria Bryksa, Leaps & Bounds brand ambassador, said: “We saw wine (and dog) lovers’ enthusiasm for this playful, unique brand come to life, and we are so excited to be partnering with Dogs Trust to solidify our mission to hero dogs from around the world and support the charity in its incredible campaign to rehome dogs across the UK. More than just a wine, Leaps & Bounds has dogs at its heart, so this partnership is the start of an exciting journey combining delicious wine and incredible dogs.”
“We’re pleased to partner with Leaps & Bounds to help us in our mission to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life. Initiatives like this are essential to help us look after the dogs in our care and find them their forever homes.”
Owen Sharp, Dogs Trust CEO, said: “We’re pleased to partner with Leaps & Bounds to help us in our mission to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life. Initiatives like this are essential to help us look after the dogs in our care and find them their forever homes.”
Whether you’re planning a soirée with friends or picking up a bottle on the hoof (or should that be woof?), keep in mind little Bud and Bob, as you could be helping to re-home the next Lassie, Toto, or Beethoven, and isn’t that a wonderful thing?
Leaps & Bounds Sauvignon Blanc and Leaps & Bounds Shiraz (RRP £9) promotional packs are available from 26th August 2023, exclusively at Sainsbury’s.
