Lincolnshire-based equine welfare and rescue charity Bransby Horses has created a beautifully illustrated Christmas storybook and ticketed visitor experience to help raise awareness of its life-saving work.
Pudding’s Christmas Miracle, written by the team at Bransby Horses and primary school teacher Helen Kennedy, invites readers to experience the same journey that so many of the equines embark on when they come into the charity’s care.
Over 32 beautifully illustrated pages, the book, which is aimed at children aged four to eight, tells the rhyming rags to riches tale of a fictional black Shetland Pony called Pudding, who is rescued by the charity after being found abandoned in a field at Christmas without water or food.
Like so many of the horses that arrive at the charity, Pudding is suffering from neglect and poor health, and the inspiring and uplifting story follows her journey as she is taken to a safe haven and given loving care and treatment – before a special visit leads to an incredible Christmas miracle.
In addition to creating the Pudding’s Christmas Miracle book, Bransby Horses is bringing her story to life through a special ticketed experience at its Bransby site in Lincolnshire, which will run from 19th November until 24th December 2020.
It will take visitors on Pudding’s journey, giving them an opportunity to watch and experience her transformation from a shy and quiet pony into a well-loved equine, and the chance to visit the real-life Pudding in her field.
All the profits from the sale of the book and event tickets, which are available now to purchase online and by phone, will go directly to funding the vital rescue and welfare work carried out every day by the charity.
Sally Crawford, Executive Director of Engagement & Income Generation at Bransby Horses says: “Our work to improve the lives of horses is, sadly, more needed than ever before, but we know that not everyone is aware of what our incredible team does day in, day out, to give the hundreds of equines in our care a better life.
“Through Pudding’s inspirational story, we’re hoping to raise smiles and funds, whilst helping to spread the word about the amazing work that our team does, rescuing horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in need.
“Whether you decide to come to our Christmas experience on site, purchase the Pudding’s Christmas Miracle book, sponsor an equine or make a donation, you make a positive difference, and for that we’re truly grateful.”
While Pudding is a fictional character, the public is being invited to sponsor her as one of Bransby Horses’ eight Sponsorship Stars, which includes horses, ponies, donkeys and mules from across the charity’s two Lincolnshire sites in Bransby and Barlings.
An annual sponsorship of £36 helps to fund the vital care and support these horses need, with Bransby Horses’ bi-annual vet bills sometimes in excess of £40,000.
Both Pudding’s Christmas Miracle (priced £6.95) and tickets to the Bransby Christmas Experience (priced from £5) are available to purchase from BransbyHorses.co.uk/Pudding or by calling 01427 788 464.
