House of the Dragon star Bethany Antonia takes time out to meet homeless pets

A three-legged kitten and a chihuahua cross were just some of the pets treated to a fuss from House of the Dragon actor Bethany Antonia when she visited pet charity Blue Cross’s rehoming centre in Bromsgrove.

The animal-loving star visited the charity’s rehoming centre on Wildmoor Lane in Catshill where she got to meet dogs and cats and members of the team responsible for looking after them.

Among them was three-legged stray kitten Spooky, who was brought into Blue Cross after she was found in London with a broken thighbone aged just four months. A serious and painful injury, often caused by a fall or after being hit by a vehicle, vets at the charity decided the best cause of treatment was to amputate the leg. Luckily the kitten has taken it all in her stride and should be heading to a new home in time for Christmas.

Bethany also met Minnie the chihuahua cross for a cuddle and three-year-old Shih Zhu Freddie, who enjoyed the tasty treats she gave them, along with stray cats Pepper and Twizzler who were found abandoned in a cat carrier.

After her visit, Bethany said: “It was really wonderful to meet the pets and see the care and dedication the team puts in to care for each and every animal. As a self-confessed dog lover, I especially fell in love with Minnie and Freddie.

“I would urge anyone looking to take on a new pet to give a rescue pet the gift of a new home this Christmas.”

National pet charity Blue Cross has rehoming centres and animal hospitals across the country, along with other services including Pet Food Banks and a Pet Loss Support service.

Laura Coveney, Centre Manager at Blue Cross in Bromsgrove said: “It was wonderful to welcome Bethany to our rehoming centre and show her the pets in our care and the work our teams are doing to prepare them for their forever homes.

“Blue Cross helps tens of thousands of pets every year and this Christmas we’re calling on animal lovers to support us by making a donation towards an emergency care box which will help us to help more pets like Spooky and the other cats and dogs Bethany met who need our help”
