Happy Birthday Pupcakes

Did somebody say party? Everyone loves a slice of cake on their birthday, but unfortunately for our fluffy friends, human cake is off-limits. T

That’s why tails.com have put together a paw-fect recipe that’s quick and easy for doggy-pupcakes!  The smell of you making them will have your dog sniffing out where that delicious scent is coming from and hoping it’s for them on their special day.

Serves:

1-2 depending on your dog!

Ingredients:

For the cake (divide batter in half for smaller dogs):
– 2 teaspoons of xylitol-free peanut butter
– 4 tablespoons oats
– 1 egg
– 100ml of low-salt chicken stock
– Coconut or flaxseed oil, for greasing the mould or mug

Frosting
– 1 small potato
– 1 teaspoon of dairy-free yoghurt
– 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (optional)
– Good Dog Treats

Method
1. Start by grabbing your oats, egg and all of the chicken stock and mix them together in a bowl. Once mixed, allow your batter to rest for an hour so that the oats are lovely and soft.
2. Next, while you are waiting for your pupcake batter to soften up, get your potato, peel it and pop it in a pan of hot boiling water. Then, let your potato boil until it is soft enough to mash.
3. When your oats are soft, grab your peanut butter and heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds or until it has begun to melt.
4. Stir your oat mixture into the peanut butter until it is well combined.
5. To get that perfect cupcake shape, transfer the mixture to either a greased mug or a silicone cupcake mould.
6. To cook your pupcake, heat the mixture in the microwave at a HIGH temperature for 90 seconds or until cooked.
7. Now, take the potato that you cooked earlier and mash it in a boil with coconut oil until smooth.
8. When the potato and coconut oil mixture has reached room temperature add the yoghurt and mix until well combined.
9. Next spread or pipe your frosting onto your cooked pupcake batter.
10. To finish, place one of your dog’s favourite treats on the top

Magnificent Mug Cake Recipe

If you love spoiling your pooch when it comes to their birthday, there is no better way than baking them a special treat to celebrate! The great thing about a mug cake is that you don’t need to be at home to whip it up!

Having a pup-party meet-up at a doggy-friends house? All you need is a couple of ingredients from your cupboard, a mug and 5 minutes to spare.

Ingredients
– 1 ripe banana
– 2 tbsp of peanut butter
– 1 egg
– Their favourite treat to put on top

Method
1. To start, grab all your ingredients (egg, peanut butter, banana) and place them in a bowl. Then, mix all your ingredients together making sure to mash the banana as much as you can (it’s fine if it’s a bit lumpy).
2. Next take a microwaveable safe mug and pour half of the mixture into it and cook in the microwave for 30 seconds. If the mixture is still not cooked after 30 seconds, cook again for 10-second intervals until done.
3. Once your mug cake is cooked, slide it out of your mug and onto a plate or bowl.
4. Next place the rest of the batter in the mug and repeat the cooking steps.
5. Once both halves of the mixture are cooked and cooled, drizzle the top with a thin layer of peanut butter (diluted with water) and place your pooches’ favourite treat on top.
6. Serve to your dog and enjoy!
