A pair of adult female Guinea pigs are looking for new homes after being abandoned with 17 other guinea pigs.
Gin and Tonic arrived into the care of RSPCA Walsall branch in October when they were found abandoned in boxes at the end of a driveway with 17 other guinea pigs.
RSPCA staff believe that Gin and Tonic were mums to the babies which were found with them. Most of the young guinea pigs have now been rehomed.
Vicky Harrison, trustee at RSPCA Walsall, said: âPoor Gin and Tonic were abandoned in a cardboard box on a driveway with 17 other guinea pigs, which were believe had come from a home overrun with guinea pigs.
âSadly, we do see circumstances where breeding has become out of control which means itâs likely that each pet is not getting the attention they need or having their needs met. We would always encourage anyone who is struggling to cope with their pets to ask ourselves or other charities for help rather than abandoning their animals. Now these two girls are looking to find their forever home together.â
Staff at the rehoming centre say that the guinea pigs could live with other females or a neutered male as long as they would be happy to let Gin be the boss. Gin is the black and tan crested guinea pig and is the boss of the group.
She is confident and is always the first one to investigate anything new. Tonic is the black, white and tan crested piggy and she will follow her sister around wherever she goes. She is a loving guinea pig and takes care of the younger girls. They are estimated to both be around 12 to 18 months old.
Gin and Tonic are looking for an indoor home, with lots of space and enrichment to keep them occupied.
They are friendly and will happily sit on your lap for a cuddle making them good pets for a family, or a first-time guinea pig owner.
