Golden oldie looking for purr-fect retirement pad

An elderly tabby cat is looking for her perfect retirement home after arriving at the RSPCA as a stray.

Minky, the 15-year old cat arrived at the RSPCA Southridge Animal Centre in Hertfordshire in May after her owners could no longer care for her.

The sweet cat is now looking for a quiet home to spend her twilight years.

Animal Care Assistant, Lisa Obertelli, said: “This lovely older lady is a very sweet and affectionate cat who would like a nice, easy life with someone who can care for her for the rest of her life. She will need gentle handling with a kind, understanding owner. It’s very sad that an elderly girl like Minky is not being loved and cared for in a home so we really want to see her land on her paws in her forever home soon.

“As an older girls she does have some medical problems with her ears and kidneys, but we can give further advice to any potential adopters. We understand that some people may have reservations about adopting an older cat like Minky but despite her age, the lovely Minky has so much love to give.”

The RSPCA team advise that Minky would prefer to be the only cat, but she could live with a friendly dog.

Figures from the RSPCA show that on average it can take cats over seven years old nearly three times as long to rehome than those cats aged under six months old.

If you think you can give Minky a loving home, you can contact RSPCA Southridge Animal Centre on 0300 123 0704.
