We all know life is better with a best friend at our side and that’s definitely the case for best buddies Fudge and Blue at Dogs Trust Manchester.
But although these four-legged friends are devoted to each other, they are hoping that as Best Friends Day approaches (8 June) they will soon be sharing their love – and a home – with new human friends.
The much-loved dinky duo have found themselves at the Denton-based rehoming centre after a change in their family’s circumstances meant they could no longer stay with them. Now, nine-year-old cheeky Chihuahua Blue and 13-year-old Shih Tzu Fudge, who the team say is as sweet as her name implies, have their paws crossed for a new home – as long as it’s together.
Tracey Hill, co-ordinator of the rehoming centre’s Home from Home fostering scheme, says:
“Fudge and Blue are adorable, and inseparable. They are loving life in a foster home at the moment and their foster carer says they are an absolute delight, but as Best Friends Day approaches we are really hoping that they soon find themselves at the heart of a loving family with a whole circle of new best friends and a home to call their own.”
These Older Age Pooches (OAPs) have lived with children before and could live in a home with children aged 14 and over. They would like to be the only dogs in the home so they can lap up all the love, and they will need to have someone around most of the time whilst they settle in.
Blue is super-affectionate and loves a knee to sit on and Fudge enjoys a cuddle and lots of attention, but she lets younger Blue take the lead when first meeting new people. They like quiet, gentle strolls and would love a secure garden to enjoy with their family.
Tracey adds: “They are a lovely pair to spend time with and we know they will be the most loyal four-legged friends anyone could ever ask for. We really hope as Best Friends are celebrated on this special day, they – and we – will soon be celebrating finding them the new best friends and home they deserve.”
