Fish4Dogs is flying high after sponsoring the second annual UK Flyball League (UKFL) Championship.
The event saw more than 850 dogs and 650 handlers attend the Lincolnshire Showground which the League has now made its championship base.
It incorporated racing across the grades: from pre-cadet and intermediate (little league) through to open league, division winners and indoor and outdoor campions.
Fish4Dogs has sponsored the Championship since the formation of the League 2017 and this year provided not just the prizes – of which there were over 1500 – but also sponsored the jumps, rosettes, indoor matting and ringside barriers.
The premium pet food company were also present with its trailer throughout the duration of the event, which was an unexpected flypast from the Red Arrows to mark the occasion.
The Championship proved to be a high point for the League which is continuing to grow in participation and attendance. This year, it included a third day dedicated to the first multi-breed championship.
The UKFL continues to innovate within the sport, this year installing a warm-up ring to encourage safe running of the dogs – a world first for flyball – which attracted interest around the globe through live streaming of the action.
Indoor and outdoor racing also took place at the event, which again, is unique for a championship. Although the Championship’s home is now firmly based in Lincoln, all the Fish4Dogs branded equipment including jumps and backgrounds will be used at League events across the country during the year.
Content Manager for Fish4Dogs, Theresa Hayes, said: “We are very proud of our association with the UK Flyball League. Its Championship provided a fantastic display of happy, healthy dogs enjoying their time with their owners and competing with other dogs.
“It is easy to see how much they enjoy it – from the wagging tails, noise levels and the joy of racing – the dogs are truly excited. It’s a lovely way of seeing like-minded people, come together from all around the country to share their love of this sport and their dogs.”
Jen Collins of the UK Flyball League said: “We are very grateful for Fish4Dogs for its unstinting support which has enhanced our Championship event again this year. Huge amounts of hard work went into making this happen and as a result we experienced an exhilarating weekend which will in turn encourage greater participation across all groups.”
