It’s waggy tails all-round as Dogs Trust announces the first corporate sponsors to make their mark on A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy, a mass public art trail coming to the streets of Cardiff, Caerphilly and Porthcawl next Spring.
Sixteen businesses and organisations are today being announced as the first to sponsor a selection of super-sized Snoopy sculptures that will be on display for ten weeks from 25th March – 5th June 2022 across streets, parks and public open spaces to form a stunning art trail.
Each sculpture will be sponsored by companies and individuals from across Wales and beyond and will be brought to life with hand-painted designs by regional and national artists.
The three host councils, Cardiff Council, Caerphilly County Borough Council and Bridgend County Borough Council, have all pledged to sponsor a number of Snoopy sculptures, as well as Welsh-based businesses and organisations, Cardiff Castle, The Royal Mint, Capital FM, Admiral, Confused, com, Keep Wales Tidy, Mermaid Quay, The Red Dragon Centre, Welsh Connections and For Cardiff. The trail has also attracted national attention with Barbour, Itch Pet, and WildBrain all coming on board.
At the end of the trail, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise vital funds and awareness for Dogs Trust, who have recently opened a rehoming centre in Cardiff, and have an existing rehoming centre in Bridgend.
Owen Sharp, Chief Executive at Dogs Trust, said: “A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy will see us unleash a pack of Snoopy sculptures to the iconic spaces in Cardiff, Caerphilly and Porthcawl in Spring 2022, getting us all out and about and enjoying the delights of these fabulous places. We are absolutely thrilled to announce the very first corporate sponsors for the trail – sponsorship of a Snoopy sculpture is a fabulous opportunity for businesses, not only for connecting and engaging with stakeholders, but also for supporting Dogs Trust’s amazing work.
“We’ve been helping dogs in Wales for more than 50 years through our presence in Bridgend and now with our newest rehoming centre in Cardiff which is set to help even more dogs in Wales each year. The trail’s aim is to raise pounds for hounds so that we can continue to improve dog welfare in Wales and beyond. We know that it is going to be a spectacular exhibition for everyone who joins in and we’re excited to make A Dog’s Trail a lasting legacy, just like Snoopy himself!”
The supersize Snoopy sculptures will be joined by smaller sculptures, decorated by pupils and teachers in local schools, which will also be displayed during the trail.
