Dogs Trust Snetterton appeal for ‘together forever’ home for trio of dogs

Dogs Trust Snetterton has launched an appeal to find a very special home with room for three senior German Spitz dogs.

This is a rare opportunity for lovers of the breed, as in the last five years (since January 2015) the centre has only seen two other German Spitz dogs at the centre.

Chanel (15), Humpty and Micky (both 12) came into the centre through the Canine Care Card, after their owner sadly passed away. The friendly, easy going bunch are used to their home comforts and have been struggling to adjust to life in kennels, so the team at Dogs Trust Snetterton are keen to find a home for the inseparable trio as soon as possible.

Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager, Emily Johnston says: “It is always sad when older dogs come into the centre, as it can be a real struggle for them to adjust, particularly after sadly losing their owner. We are giving them all the love and care we can, and they have been spending some time at the home of a staff member as they have found kennel life a struggle. They really need to find a retirement home where they can get settled and rest their paws as soon as possible.

“German Spitz dogs are very rare here at Dogs Trust Snetterton, as we have only seen two other in the last five years. They are lovely, friendly dogs looking for a quiet home together as they are the best of friends and can’t be separated at this late stage in life.

“Whilst they still enjoy a potter around the garden, they don’t need a lot of exercise. Their perfect home would be somewhere to chill out and enjoy some human company. We really home that this appear will help us find the perfect home for this terrific trio who still have so much love to give to the right owners.”

Chanel is a friendly dog who just loves being in people’s company and despite being partially sighted and deaf, it hasn’t stopped her making lots of human friends at the centre.

Humpty is a quiet, calm older gentleman, who likes to take life slow but will chase a ball every now and then. Micky isn’t as confident as the other two and isn’t overly keen on handling, but he does like fuss and attention on his terms.

The trio would like to live with children aged 16 or over, as they want to live in a chilled-out home without much going on. They would like access to a garden to potter around in and stretch their little legs and would prefer their home to be away from busy roads and traffic.

If you think you could offer this terrific trio their forever retirement home, you can visit their profiles at www.dogstrust.org.uk and click the ‘Come Meet Me’ button.
