It has been a case of the dogs came in two by two at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury recently.
The team at the rehoming centre have found themselves looking after a record number of doggie duos with six pairs of pooches arriving in quick succession. Now they are hoping they’ll find forever families for the paw-some pairs at the double.
Sue Bromley, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury, said: “We can’t remember a time when we’ve looked after so many pairs! We would love to think that a dog is for life but sometimes that simply can’t be which is really sad. However, they are really terrific two-somes and we’re hoping it won’t be long before some big-hearted dog lovers fall in love, twice over!”
Diminutive duo Archie, ten, and his sister Ruby are Chihuahua Jack Russell Crosses. They have adapted well to life at the rehoming centre and both are super affectionate and love having a snuggle, but they are also happy to head out on walks and then settle down for a snooze. They would happily live in a home with children aged eight or over and could potentially live with other dogs, but aren’t fans of felines or other small furries.
Crossbreeds Sheba and Sissy are looking for a loving retirement home where they can rest their paws. They are inseparable canine companions who have stolen the hearts of the team. Aged twelve, Sheba likes to take life at a slower pace than eight-year-old Sissy who is still very playful, but both love heading out on gentle walks and pottering around the garden. They would love to enjoy family life and could live with calmer children.
Sue says: “Both of these perfect pairs arrived due to a change in family circumstances and given that they have had to leave everything else they’ve ever known behind, it would be wonderful to find homes for them together.
“Ruby loves everything and everyone and is full of fun, but also happy to sit on your lap all day and lap up the love. As long as Archie is by her side, he is happy! Sheba and Sissy are a truly devoted doggie duo who are always ready for some fuss and attention. They are all the perfect canine companions and we can guarantee that anyone who welcomes them into their home will definitely get double the doggie love.”

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. Over recent months, the charity has received a record number of calls from people needing to rehome their dogs in the face of the new cost of everyday living. Whilst some require a lot of extra support, many residents are looking for a dedicated foster carer who can offer immediate support and help out with the cuddles and a comfy sofa until they find their forever home. Dogs Trust covers all costs involved in fostering. By becoming a foster carer, you’ll help many more dogs by freeing up a kennel ready for the next dog who has nowhere else to go, as well as enabling staff to free up really valuable time to provide specialist attention to dogs who need a little extra help.
