An elderly dog has found himself looking for a forever home once more after his owner sadly passed away.
Brush, a 12-year-old Spaniel cross, first came into Dogs Trust’s rehoming centre in Ilfracombe as a youngster in 2013 when his owner’s circumstances changed. He was soon happily re-homed and spent the last nine years of his life with a loving family. Sadly, he returned to the centre in May this year after his owner passed away, finding himself looking for a forever home once more.
His owner was a much-loved supporter of the rehoming centre and thankfully had signed up to Dogs Trust’s Canine Care Card, a free service that aims to give owners peace of mind, knowing that Dogs Trust will look after their dog if the worst should happen. Brush is the oldest resident at the West Down rehoming centre and is now looking for a second chance at happiness and to spend his twilight years in a loving home.
Elise Watson, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, said: “It’s always sad when older dogs come to us after their whole world has changed but Brush has adjusted well to being back in our care and is a firm favourite with his canine carers. He has been with us for a few weeks now and we would love to find him a loving home once more where he can get back to his home comforts that he enjoys.
“Despite his age, he’s pretty active and loves to play ball. He adores his walks in quiet spots and will happily hop in the car for a day out. He’s looking for a home with owners who’ll give him plenty of time to settle, and a cosy bed so he can have a snooze after a morning walk.
“We know we can’t fill the space left by his beloved owner, only a new caring family can do that. But we hope it won’t be long before a new owner comes forward and gives him the love he deserves very soon.”
Brush is looking for a home where he’d be the only pet, and he could live with children aged 11 and above. If you think you could find space in your heart and home for this adorable older gent, please visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/our-centres/ilfracombe
