A devoted doggie due who met at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe are looking for love again through no fault of their own.
Four-year-old ex-racing Greyhounds Gina and Frankie originally found themselves at the West Down-based rehoming centre in August 2018 after their racing career had come to an end.
They had never met before, but as fate would have it, they became inseparable kennelmates for six months, doing everything together from sharing a bed to trotting by each other’s side on a walk, whilst they waited to be adopted.
Staff say it’s fairly usual for two dogs to be rehomed together if they haven’t arrived as a pair, but after seeing how attached they became to one another, they were happy to let them stay as a twosome and they happily trotted off to a new home together on Valentine’s Day.
However, due to a change in their owner’s circumstances, Gina and Frankie have sadly found themselves back at the rehoming centre and looking for a forever family once again.
Elise Watson, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, said: “Gina and Frankie are so devoted to one another, it would be such a shame to have to split them up, so we are looking for another family to offer them double the love once more.
“They are a wonderful pair of dogs and it’s heart-warming to see them side by side all the time. Like typical Greyhounds, they love a burst of exercise followed by spending most of the day lounging on a large sofa.
“Now they have well and truly hung up their racing shoes, they are looking for owners who can give them a slower pace of life and offer them plenty of affection. They are sociable with other dogs and like to have walking buddies. We know they are great house guests, so we’d really love for someone to come forward to take on a doggy duo and in return, receive double the love from two four legged friends.”
Gina and Frankie could live with children over the age of 11. They are looking for a calm but active home and will happily jump in the car to head off on an adventure.
