Petpals Darlington & Yarm, the community’s trusted multi-service pet-care provider, is teaming up with Darlington College’s carpentry and joinery students to bring new dog training equipment to the area.
As well as enhancing the resources available for the dogs of Darlington, the initiative aims to provide valuable hands-on experience for the students involved.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Darlington College on this fantastic project,” said David Gray, owner of Petpals Darlington & Yarm. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the students to apply their skills in a real-world setting while giving back to our pet-loving community.”
A group of students have come together to help plan the project, each putting together their proposals for equipment in one of Petpals Darlington & Yarm’s secure fields. Their collaboration has resulted in creative and practical designs that will enhance the play and training experience for the dogs David and his team look after.
“Our clients have always enjoyed the peace of mind that comes with using our private and secure fields. Now, with the addition of the new equipment built with the help of Darlington College, the experience will be even better,” explained David. “The students have shown incredible creativity and dedication. Their contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of the dogs we care for, and we are proud to support their education and professional growth.”
At Petpals Darlington & Yarm, its dedicated team is fully trained, insured, and security checked and is committed to delivering high-quality and professional services tailored to clients’ pet-care needs. From dog walking to pet sitting, cat and small animal visits, and specialised care for puppies and elderly pets, their mission is to provide pets with the same love and affection they receive from their owners.
In addition to his steadfast commitment to Darlington’s much-loved pets, David has placed equal importance on using the success of his business since launching in 2006 to give back to the area. This project with Darlington College is just one example of his ongoing efforts to support local initiatives and foster community spirit.
“At Petpals Darlington, we’ve always believed in giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years,” added David. “Partnering with Darlington College is just the latest in a long line of initiatives we’ve spearheaded to support our local area over the last 18 years. This partnership not only helps young people gain valuable experience but also strengthens the bond between our business and the local community.”
Olivia Anderson, Engagement Coach at Darlington College remarked “offering our students valuable and relevant work experience with Petpals has been so beneficial to the development of the students and has allowed them to practise their hand skills. We are always keen to expose our students across all curriculum areas to real life projects and workplace opportunities as we see how much they gain in confidence, and they are more prepared to enter the workforce on successful completion of their course.”
