In an enchanting fusion of fancy footwork and prancing paws, Tails.com has unveiled a delightful dance spectacle from the minds of celebrity dancers Janette Manrara and Aljaž Škorjanec. This unique performance captures the exuberant spirit of dogs during their most anticipated moment of the day – dinner time.
The research underpinning this paw-tapping project reveals that an impressive 61% of British dog owners cherish mealtime as one of the prime bonding activities of their day with their canine companions. Not only this but a whopping 88% of Brits said their dog tells them when it’s mealtime, whether that’s via a tail wag, the tapping of paws, spinning around, or what some would call, a doggy dance.
In fact, over half (56%) believe their dog does their own unique dance around mealtime, with some owners (12%) so proud of their furry companions that they believe their dog could be a famous dancer and would even put them forward for a dance routine if given the chance.
Along with the research, The ‘Dinner Dance’ project invited dog owners up and down the country to submit videos of their pets’ mealtime antics, offering a chance to be featured in the celebrity-studded dance video. Janette and Aljaž, avid dog lovers themselves, were thrilled to translate the joyous leaps, spins, and paw-tapping into a dance routine.
“Having both grown up with family dogs all our lives, we know all too well how unique that bond with your dog can be,” they shared. “We’re eager to bring to life the adorable mealtime dances of dogs, which are as much a celebration of their unique personalities as they are of the special bond they share with their owners. There is no such thing as an average dog and that is what we have tried to convey in our dance.”
Though it’s not just the professionals who like to put on their dancing shoes, in fact, 72% of the 2000 surveyed said they at least sometimes join in and dance alongside their dog.
The top three moves dogs performed most before dinner time were running to and fro (64%), spinning on the spot (53%) and jumping side to side (45%). Blending these typical doggy dinner time moves with the twirls, the quick feet and the hops synonymous with a typical jive routine, the dog-mad duo are encouraging the nation to enjoy – and add some jazz to – the everyday moment that is mealtime with your dog.
A third of British dog lovers look forward to feeding their pooch each day, admitting it brings joy to both them and their dog, with many enjoying the daily dose of laughter and the chance to share unwavering loyalty.
Tails.com‘s study also highlights the lengths to which owners go to make dinner time special. Almost all (90%) deploy bespoke dining setups such as a designated meal spot (61%), tailored meals (34%) or feeding out of a personalised bowl (33%) to ensure a truly special dining experience every time.
