Cats Protection has unveiled its tear-jerking Christmas advert based on the true story of an abandoned kitten.
The 30 second animation advert tells the story of kitten Libby who survived for two weeks in freezing weather after being dumped in a country lane with her four siblings.
A member of the public reported the five abandoned kittens, but Cats Protection were only able to locate four.
The same member of the public called again a fortnight later to say she’d spotted the fifth kitten and Cats Protection volunteers were finally able to rescue her.
After her ordeal, Libby was cold, hungry, underweight and suffering with an injured nose, but thanks to the care and attention of Cats Protection, she recovered fully.
Libby has been renamed Missy and is now happily settled with her forever family. She has been microchipped to ensure that she can be reunited with her owners should she ever go astray again.
Libby as adopted by Amy Smith who told Cats Protection: “Misty is the loveliest of cats, she always waits at the lounge door to greet us in the mornings and her happiness is shown by her loud purr and vibrating tail.”
The new Christmas animation ‘Libby Left Behind’ was created in house at Cats Protection. For more Christmas cat content you can visit www.cats.org.uk/christmas
