Four rescue cats in Leeds are looking to find their forever homes including one cat who is surprisingly allergic to fish!
Fruin, Catface, Tootsie and Arthur have waited to find their forever homes for a combined 235 days – but have sadly been overlooked by potential adopters so far.
Fruin, a one-year-old black and white male cat came into the care of the RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District Branch as his previous owner could no longer afford to keep him. Sadly, he has since waited 125 days to find a home.
Megan Rattray, Animal Care Manager at the Branch, said: “Fruin is on a special diet which we can discuss with potential adopters as he has a rather unique and fairly tragic allergy – he’s allergic to fish! This is very sad for a cat as we all know how much cats love fish but thankfully he is on a food he enjoys and hasn’t shown any reaction to.
“Fruin is a special and handsome boy who loves everyone he meets. He is very affectionate and loves to sit on people’s knees and lay across their feet making him a good substitute for a pair of slippers!
“He’s a chatty lad and loves to join in on people’s conversations and he’s a big fan of playing and loves to chase his bird toy around.”
Fruin is looking for a home with no other pets, and he could live with a family with children aged 10 or older.
Catface and Tootsie were brought into the care of the branch by their owner who said they were unable to give them enough attention and could no longer cope with them. The pair, who are nine years old, have now been in the charity’s care for 74 days. They both have early renal issues which is sadly quite common in cats their age so they are on a special diet to help them with this but they don’t require any medication or treatment.
The pair are an incredibly bonded ‘loved-up’ couple and need to find a home together.
Catface, the black and white male cat, and Tootsie, the tabby female cat, are a sweet and gentle duo who have become a firm favourite amongst the staff and volunteers in the cattery. They both love company and attention. Catface can often be found rubbing against someone’s legs or laid on a lap and has an incredibly sweet and loud purr. Tootsie enjoys fuss but is also more playful and she loves to bat a ping pong ball around or chase a feather wand toy.
They would prefer not to live with a dog but could be rehomed to families with children of all ages.
Arthur is a three year old white cat who was found as an injured stray in Leeds around five weeks ago, and desperately needed help because of his injured front left paw. It is believed he was most likely Arthur was born deaf, and this is more common in white cats.
Arthur is affectionate and loves rubbing against people’s legs, and he’s also a big foodie and loves his treats. He can be a little lazy rather than playful but that does mean he is a relaxed cat to spend time with.
Megan added: “Arthur just needs someone who can give him the second chance at happiness he deserves. He’s a lovely, gentle and chilled out cat and needs a family who will accept him for who he is but sadly we have no interest in him whatsoever.”
He would like a safe, enclosed garden or a catio so that he can go outside and he could join a family with older children who understands that as he is deaf he can startle easily. He would also like to be the only cat in the home so that he gets all the fuss.
To give any of these cats a loving home, contact the Branch and fill out an adoption application form via the website.
The RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District Branch is a separately registered charity to the national RSPCA and raises funds to help local animals in the area. This year alone, the branch has taken in 65 cats and over 40% of those cats were abandoned. To help support the branch, donate here
