Best friends Betty and Zeus are looking for a new home together this Galentine’s Day – the day before Valentine’s Day which celebrates female friendship.
The two OAPs (Older Age Pooches) are currently being cared for at the Dogs Trust Basildon Rehoming Centre in Essex.
Seven-year old Terrier Betty and 11-year old Husky-Labrador cross Zeus came into the centre together two weeks ago as their owner could no longer care for them.
Dogs Trust Basildon Rehoming Centre Manager, Lisa Cooper said: “Sadly these two best friends came into us via the Canine Care Card, our scheme where we take in dogs whose owners have passed away or can no longer look after them due to serious illness.
“The pair are very strongly binded and pine for each other when they’re apart – refusing to eat without one another and sleeping snuggled up together. Little Betty likes to curl up in Zeus’s fur in the bed they share. They are such lovely dogs who are both very friendly. Betty loves toys and treats whereas Zeus prefers a cuddle. Their previous owners said that when Betty loves you, she’ll want to take one of your sock to bed to sleep with.”
Despite their age. Both dogs still like getting out for walks. Betty is very sprightly while Zeus prefers a more leisurely potter around. They would be fine to go to a home with older teenagers and can be left for short periods, as they are housetrained.
Lisa added: “These old ladies are looking for a retirement home where they can put their paws up for the rest of their lives. If you think you can offer a loving forever home to this delightful due, please get in touch.”
