Appeal after kittens found dumped in bin in Gateshead

The RSPCA is appealing for information after two kittens were dumped in a bin in Gateshead.

Two kittens were discovered on Monday (28 January) in an industrial bin at the back of St Chad’s Community Project, Liddell Terrace in Gateshead.

RSPCA Inspector, Suzanne Edgar, said: “The person who found them said the bin lid was closed and when they opened in the kittens were just sitting there looking up at them.

“They took some photos before climbing in and rescuing them, then called us. There’s no way these kittens could have gotten into the bin by themselves. It’s very lucky they were found when they were as who knows what might have happened to them otherwise.”

The kittens – a ginger male and a grey female – are thought to be 10-12 weeks old. They were taken to a vet to be checked over and happily are fit and well with no health concerns.

They’re now at RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre and will be rehomed if no one comes forward.

Inspector Edgar added: “If anyone knows who these kittens belong to, or saw anything that might help my investigation, please call the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and ask to leave a message for me.”
