A dog who arrived at Dogs Trust Leeds after her owner passed away is still searching for a new home a year later.
The Leeds rehoming centre is appealing to local dog lovers to give a dog a home after she has waited in kennels for exactly a year. 
Seven-year old Tia found herself at Dogs Trust Leeds for the second time in her life on 8 November last year after her owner passed away. As she was hand reared by the team after being abandoned as a very young puppy, they were particularly saddened to see her walk through their doors once again.
Dogs Trust Leeds, Canine Carer, Amy Carlin, said: “After a tough start in life she had a fantastic seven years in a loving home. When she arrived in never thought a year would go by and she would still be waiting for someone to fall in love with her.”
In the last twelve months the team have waved a fond farewell to more than 650 dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes, but unfortunately Tia hasn’t yet found her special someone.
Amy added: “I can’t remember anyone ever enquiring about wanting to adopt Tia, which makes me really sad as although she may not be small and fluffy, she is absolutely gorgeous. She is full and loves nothing more than a trip in the car to enjoy a new adventure. She makes you laugh as she gets so giddy and she is a joy to be around.
“When she arrived, she was wary of meeting new people, but we’ve done lots of work with her and she is growing in confidence. Once she gets to know you, she will be your friend for life.”
Staff at Dogs Trust Leeds advise that Tia will need a quiet home with owners who are happy to give her time to settle in. Should could live with teenage children, but would like to be the only dog in the home and would love a secure garden to play in.
The team at Dogs Trust Leeds will work alongside her new family to help to introduce her to visitors to the home so that she will be comfortable meeting new people.
